EAI was contacted by RealtyLink to provide continuing asbestos abatement and structural demolition of the former Oak Ridge Mall. The facility encompassed over 550,000sf of retail space. Structural separation occurred between the Belk & JCPenney retail facilities – while keeping them operational. Prior to demolition approximately 70,000sf of asbestos containing flooring materials had to be abated. Demolished materials were re-purposed predominantly steel and concrete/inert materials. The inert materials were addressed via a mobile on-site crusher and produced approximately 12,000 tons for utility trench re-use on site. he project was completed; including slabs & footers in nine (9) weeks.
